A Fence Contractor’s Honest Review of His FIrst USS Netting Project
Dan Wheeler reviewed his first USS netting job on The Fence Industry Podcast. His verdict was simple: good material, a solid plan, and a job that went the way he drew it up.

Host Dan Wheeler’s July 27, 2026 episode titled "My HONEST Review on my First USS Netting Project" discussed his first netting installation using Unlimited Sports Solutions material. He summarized how it went as exactly the way he imagined it would. In his words, the material vendor and manufacturer were "top notch" and the project came down to a plan made, a plan followed, and a plan delivered.
We didn't ask for the review, but we are grateful for it! We think the reasons it went well are worth unpacking, because they're the same reasons netting projects go sideways when they're missing.
It starts with the material
Netting is one of those products where the spec sheet is the whole ballgame. A backstop that sags, fades, or fails in three seasons wasn't a workmanship problem, it was a material problem that showed up late.
USS supplies knotted nylon netting in #24, #30, #36, and #42 twine, plus #18 Plateena Dyneema® for spans where weight and strength matter most. Every strand is solution-dyed and UV-bonded so the netting holds its color and its break strength through Midwest sun, wind, and freeze-thaw. It runs on the plan
The other half of Dan's review had nothing to do with the netting itself. He made a plan, stuck to it, and the job went to plan.
That's where USS spends most of its time. We're an athletic facility equipment supplier — we don't self-perform installation — so our job is to get the layout, the twine size, the mesh, the hardware, and the delivery schedule right before a crew is standing in the field. We work alongside installing contractors from bidding through installation: sizing the system, checking the cut list, and making sure what shows up on the truck matches what's on the drawing.
When that groundwork is done, installation day is uneventful. Uneventful is the goal.
For contractors taking on netting work
If you install fence and you're being asked to quote netting — batting cages, backstops, golf barriers, sideline containment — you don't have to learn the product category alone.
